HANDS-ON General Thoracic Surgery Hands-On Session
Saturday, April 25, 2015 | 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM

This year's hands-on session for thoracic surgery at the AATS will feature two designated tracks: a lung/airway and an esophageal track. The lung/airway track will feature hands-on experience with innovations in pulmonary procedures and diagnostics. Included in this track will be stations for VATS and robotic lobectomy, endobronchial ultrasound, navigational bronchoscopy, and airway stenting. The esophageal track will focus on innovations in endoscopic esophageal procedures and diagnostics. This track will feature hands-on opportunities for per oral endoscopic myotomy (POEM Procedure), endoscopic ultrasound, endoscopic suturing, endoscopic mucosal resection and ablation techniques, endmicroscopy and esophageal stenting. Because of the number of stations within each track it will not be possible to participate in both the esophageal and the pulmonary tracks. Consequently, participants will be required to choose one track, but will have the opportunity to spend time at each of the stations within the selected track. Both tracks feature guidance from faculty with significant experience with these techniques and procedures, and after participating in this hands-on session, attendees will leave with improved knowledge and skill sets in these innovation new areas.

This promises to be an exciting and rewarding hands-on opportunity at the AATS Annual Meeting, and we encourage those interested to register early as both tracks have limited availability.
