12:00 PM - 1:00 PM LUNCH: Experiencing Atheer 3D Reality Glasses for Surgery (Not for Credit)
Open to All Saturday Course Registrants
Sina Fateh, Atheer Labs
Allen Y. Yang, Atheer Labs

Currently, a surgery team may rely on various digital medical and imaging devices in the OR to monitor the patient in real time. However, the efficiency and safety of the operation are still limited by at least two major information bottlenecks:
1. The medical devices operated by the technicians are typically not easily accessible to the surgeons.
2. The technicians may have difficulty sharing the most effective view point from the surgeons during the surgery.

Atheer Labs has developed a wearable 3D augmented reality computer in the form of smart glasses, which can fundamentally change the workflow during surgeries. Through a network of Atheer Glasses, a team can share the view of medical device output and video live feed from the Glasses. In addition, the 3D gesture input available on the Glasses enables users to Air Touch a virtual user interface while wearing gloves and without the risk of contamination. Finally, the 3D interactive system can help instructors and trainees learn new procedures while sitting in their offices, or share and explore in real time surgical procedures as if they are co-located near the patient.
